Origami is a Design Prototyping Tool from Facebook that you can download & use to create digital prototypes of apps.
Origami is a free tool for designing modern user interfaces. Quickly put together a prototype, run it on your iPhone or iPad, iterate on it, and export code snippets your engineers can use.
We created Origami to help us design and build many of our products at Facebook, including Instagram, Paper, Messenger, Slingshot, Rooms, and Groups. We’re excited to see what people make with it.
It allows you as the designer to prototype interactions & visual effects — not just static visual interfaces. Here are some of the effects & interactions:
Slinkin’ Park: Shows how to chain Pop Animation patches together to get a rope effect.
Card Swiper: Use multiple Swipe patches to swipe cards off a stack.
2D Waggle: Use the Swipe patch to drag a layer and the Velocity patch to make it rotate in 2D based on how fast you’re dragging.
3D Waggle: Use the Swipe patch to drag a layer and the Velocity patch to make it rotate in 3D based on how fast you’re dragging.
